Fian Arroyo Art Included In Fantasy Art Awards Book
"Ring of Faith" Self Portrait
When I was a young boy in Puerto Rico, my grandfather would make a circle of leaves on the ground put me inside it and say, "Don't Move!". He would then go about doing what he had to do while always keeping an eye on me and checking in with me from time to time. I always stayed within the circle not only because of the fear of disobeying him but also because, I felt a sense of security knowing that I was safe under his watch. "Ring of Faith" is not only a self portrait but a tribute to my grandfather who I loved dearly and lost too soon. The tiger is a symbol of him protecting me from harm and how I feel he still does somehow to this day.
You can pick up a signed archival fine art print of Ring of Faith in my shop here.

Fian Arroyo Illustration Saved By A Good Samaritan At Dragon Con 2015
During Labor Day weekend Fian Arroyo Illustration was in Atlanta at the Dragon Con the world's largest convention for all things fantasy and sic-fi. My work was chosen by a jury to have a table to sell my prints and have my work on the gallery floor for the Dragon Con art show.
The show went very well for me but it almost didn't happen. Thursday afternoon when my son Aydan (who was helping me) and I pulled into downtown Atlanta highway rush hour traffic, my cars transmission went out on us. The transmission was locked up in the middle lane and it wouldn't roll when Aydan and I tried to push it. I was totally freaking out not knowing how or if I was going to get all my stuff to the Hyatt Regency in downtown where the Dragon Con art show was being held.
Then out of nowhere this Good Samaritan shows up in a truck and offers to help get me out of the middle lane and onto the side of the road. We all try to push the van but it was locked up so he attached a chain to my front end and pulled it, which was able to pop what was jammed in the transmission enough to get my van to slowly crawl down the exit ramp and into a corner gas station before it died completely. I was able to call for a taxi van to take us and all the stuff to the Hyatt to make it in time for setup and left the van there to be towed somewhere later that night. This Good Samaritan guy Charley wouldn't take any money or give me his last name and he wouldn't leave until we assured him we were ok. The only thing he wanted from us was to promise to pay the favor forward to some else someday.
Who says angels don't exist? Im a believer!!!!
Here is a shot of me at my booth at Dragon Con. Although pis and videos are prohibited at the show due to copyright concerns, you are able to take them of your own space and art.
