Fian Makes a Classroom Visit
On Tuesday I had the privilege to present some of my work and talk to the kids of WUMC preschool here in Weaverville. I showed them games, books, skateboards and toys that my work has been produced on and ended the session by drawing a monster and dinosaur on a whiteboard under the art direction of the kids. Super fun!!! The best part of it all and it was totally unexpected...each of the kids came up and gave me a big hug to thank me. Wow! Talk about melting my heart...it was AWESOME!!!!
Sneek Peek Sketch For New Art
Here's a rough sketch for a new piece I am doing for the gallery and for prints to sell here at Fian.com. This is called "The Grand Vizier's Garden Party". Hopefully I can start it today if I can get through with some deadlines. I took sketches (the ones with a tan background) from my sketchbook and pasted them in then drew in the rest of the scene. I will print it out then transfer it to a watercolor pad and start the line drawing. I will post the different stages. Stay tuned.
Step By Step Sketch To Final Art for Fantasy Illustration
Here is a step by step from sketch to final art for a watercolor and pen & ink fantasy piece I did to be sold as fine art prints. Its called "Careful With That Axe Eugene", its my interpretation of an old Pink Floyd tune. At first I thought it was jinxed because the first line work attempt ripped when I was tearing it off the Arches watercolor paper block (thank goodness I was going to redo it anyway because I wasn't happy with the line work). Then when I was going through the process of round two, I wasn't "feelin' it yet", and I almost bailed on it but continued to plow through. I finally started to get into it when I hit the homestretch. Sometimes you get to close to the trees to see the forest...or is it the other way around?
I used a Noodlers and Pilot fountain pen with Noodlers ink on 140 lb Arches cold press watercolor paper to create this.
You can purchase a print here.

Enjoy!
